Malmö is a southern Swedish city on the Öresund, combining a historic centre with newer waterfront districts. Stortorget and Lilla Torg form part of the older city core, while Västra Hamnen and Turning Torso show a more contemporary side. The flat cityscape and relatively short distances make walking and cycling practical ways to move between neighbourhoods. The Öresund Bridge gives Malmö a direct rail connection to Copenhagen, so the city works well both as a destination and as one half of a two-city trip. Spend time in the centre, by the waterfront and in the city's parks rather than seeing Malmö only as a transit stop. Coastal weather can be changeable, particularly outside summer.
