About Abisko
Abisko is a small mountain destination in Swedish Lapland beside Abisko National Park and Lake Torneträsk. It is the northern trailhead of the Kungsleden hiking route and a popular base for mountain walks, winter activities and northern-lights viewing. The surrounding valley and mountains create scenery that changes sharply with the season. Visit in winter for snow and aurora-focused trips, or from summer into early autumn for hiking and the midnight sun. Weather can change quickly in the mountains, so plan equipment and routes for local conditions rather than relying only on forecasts from Kiruna.
