Requena

Requena is an inland town west of Valencia with a historic centre known as La Villa. Beneath its streets, the Cuevas de la Villa form a network of old underground spaces once used for storage, including wine. Above ground, the town’s relationship with the Utiel-Requena wine area makes vineyards and local food part of the wider travel story. Start with a walk around La Villa, then decide whether to add a guided visit to the caves or explore the surrounding wine country. Requena offers a different experience from Valencia’s coast: historic streets and agricultural landscapes rather than beaches. Check access to the caves directly; do not assume they can be entered independently.
